"I Learn at Homeschool" lesson plans include a wide variety of activities and academic reinforcements. We believe a child learns not only through written and oral instruction, but most importantly through fun and exploration at this stage in academics. Outdoor exploration will bring the academic classroom into nature. Both our indoor and outdoor activities/centers follow mixed curriculum styles from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, RIE and traditional preschool curriculum. With that said, we do know the importance of a somewhat scheduled learning environment and in this our lesson plans will have a consistent flow week-to-week.

Every week we will have a weekly theme, letter, number, shape, and color introduced during morning circle time. The circle time will include music and movement, story time, and interactive introductions of the week's theme, letter, number, shape, and color. Circle time will also be a place of open dialogue between the teacher and the children. We will be using it as a place to help build communication, social skills, and listening skills (to fellow peers as well as instruction).

Following circle time, the class will do a group activity centered around the weekly theme and usually piggybacking on the story read during circle time (having a well-rounded literature approach). The bulk of academic learning will be done following the group activity and in individual centers. Centers allow to shape learning individually to each child's needs while allowing the child to have a say in their academic learning by choosing which activities to do that day. Center activities are hands on, fun, and exciting for the children to participate in.

Some children may be working on letter recognition while others on the sounds individual letters make, but they can each do an adaptation of the chosen center to develop their individual needs. We will include centers in mathematics, shapes, patterns, letters, sight words (eventually), writing, science, practical skills, literature, dramatic play, motor skills, sensory development and more to our weekly center activities as well as our overall lesson plans. Centers will be followed by snack, outdoor play and exploration. Outdoor play will help to develop fine and gross motor skills as well as strengthen social skills and development. Outdoor exploration will bring the academic classroom into nature. Both our indoor and outdoor activities/centers follow mixed curriculum styles from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, RIE and traditional preschool curriculum. They'll have an all organic balanced lunch as well.

We want all the children to learn through different methods and to incorporate everything with critical thinking and learn through play as well as Montessori and Reggio. I started this program for my own children and decided to extended it to other parents struggling with the traditional school idea. Families can now join our school, as this helps all the children to build friendships, have interaction, and creates a more fun school environment. I love the idea of learning through creative thinking, exploration and creativity.

Our Story

First year of our Homeschooling Journey. Our Mini Pod.

We started this program because of the current deficiency in our education system in the United States and I wanted my kids to have something better. Large class sizes, over worked teachers, standardized testing, not enough play or learn through playing, not enough parent involvement, etc. are all issues I have been struggling with when deciding on a school. So I started "I Learn At Homeschool" as a private homeschool alternative. We hired an amazing teacher and teacher's aid. We don't believe that age or grades matter, nor are subjects needed. A brief assessment of each child's academic and developmental skills will be conducted to make sure your child would be a good fit for our school. This will work as a building block for the adaptation of activities as well as to track progress throughout the school year. We do not believe in teaching in the middle, teaching using only one style, or using worksheets as the only means of learning; because each child has their own unique set of skills and learning styles.

Even our Homeschool pod deserves to have School Pictures! Year 2 of Homeschooling has been a blessed Journey that I am thankful to give my children!

2018 homeschooling and discovering learning centers. We have taken the opportunity this year to join homeschool charters and discover many centers offering classes a new journey has begun.
